Creating off-line copy
Sometimes it is necessary to get web site off-line copy, for example:- for collecting training materials, which should be accessible on trainer's computer,
- collecting network problem and similar solutions, as network failure will not allow to access network problem solution instructions.
- to collect Wikipedia or other Wiki (such as xWiki) content for off-line reading.
Using HTTrack
Download: HTTrackPreconditions: none To create off-line copy, run HTTrack and perform following steps:
- Press Next in the Wizard's start
- Enter site name in Project name field, e.g. AnteLinux
- Enter new Project category, or select Other. If necessary you can change Base path
- Press Next
- Enter site URL in Web Address: (URL) field. (To not make unnecessary page copies, limit copying path only to the viewing URLs, including only xwiki/bin/view part of the URL, e.g.: http://www.ante.lv/xwiki/bin/view/Linux/).
- Press Set Options-Experts Only-Travel Mode:Stay in the same directory, press OK, then Next and Finish
- When copy is created, open index.html file, e.g. in folder C:\My Web Sites\ante\www.ante.lv\xwiki\bin\view\Linux\index.html.
Using Firefox ScrapBook plugin
Download: ScrapBookPreconditions: Firefox
- Install ScrapBook plugin:
- Using Firefox open link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/427
- Press Install Now button, after 5 seconds press Install Now in dialog window
- Press Restart Firefox
- Create off-line copy:
- Open web site http://www.ante.lv/xwiki/bin/view
- Select Firefox menu ScrapBook-Capture Page As...-
- Create new Root Folder, if necessary
- In-depth Capture set 10
- Press Capture
- Content is accessible from Firefox menu ScrapBook-Root Folder-X Wiki - Main - view
- Physically off-line files are located in users home folder ..mozilla/firefox/.../ScrapBook/data..
