Creating off-line copy

Sometimes it is necessary to get web site off-line copy, for example:

1. for collecting training materials, which should be accessible on trainer's computer,
2. collecting network problem and similar solutions, as network failure will not allow to access network problem solution instructions.
3. to collect Wikipedia or other Wiki (such as xWiki) content for off-line reading.

Using HTTrack

Download: HTTrack
Preconditions: none

To create off-line copy, run HTTrack and perform following steps:

1. Press Next in the Wizard's start
2. Enter site name in Project name field, e.g. AnteLinux
3. Enter new Project category, or select Other. If necessary you can change Base path
4. Press Next
5. Enter site URL in Web Address: (URL) field. (To not make unnecessary page copies, limit copying path only to the viewing URLs, including only xwiki/bin/view part of the URL, e.g.: http://www.ante.lv/xwiki/bin/view/Linux/).
6. Press Set Options-Experts Only-Travel Mode:Stay in the same directory, press OK, then Next and Finish
7. When copy is created, open index.html file, e.g. in folder C:\My Web Sites\ante\www.ante.lv\xwiki\bin\view\Linux\index.html.

Using Firefox ScrapBook plugin

Download: ScrapBook
Preconditions: Firefox

1. Install ScrapBook plugin:
   1. Using Firefox open link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/427
   2. Press Install Now button, after 5 seconds press Install Now in dialog window
   3. Press Restart Firefox
2. Create off-line copy:
   1. Open web site http://www.ante.lv/xwiki/bin/view
   2. Select Firefox menu ScrapBook-Capture Page As...-
   3. Create new Root Folder, if necessary
   4. In-depth Capture set 10
   5. Press Capture
3. Content is accessible from Firefox menu ScrapBook-Root Folder-X Wiki - Main - view
   1. Physically off-line files are located in users home folder ..mozilla/firefox/.../ScrapBook/data..
